Hurricane Irene Update
Monday August 29, 2011
Well she has passed and the sky is a cyrstal clear blue. It was pretty wild in here last night. The wind turned to a westerly around 8 which was earlier than expected. Rollers were pretty large and lots and lots of wind. This morning leads to good news! Everyone made it through ok! Those of you who left dingies on the dock will have to bail out but other than that, things made it through pretty well. Good job on preperation by everyone! Here is to fair weather in the fall!!!
Dock Status
Wednesday June 22, 2011
We removed the old walkway and gangway two days ago. This made room for the people to come in and start on the new walkway and gangway. If everything works out, we should have some docks in by the end of next week. Keep your fingers crossed for that!
Ice is here and the Policy to get it!
Wednesday June 22, 2011
The ice arrived yesterday! The deal with the ice this year: It is on a honor system, you put down what you take and we bill you for it. Last year we took a bath on the ice due to people not writing down what they took. With that being said, the combo has changed. To get the combo we will need to get a $20 deposit from everyone that would like to get ice from here. In exchange you get the combo. At the end of the year if things don't match up, the expense will be divided among the people that have the combo. Sorry to be this way but I can't afford to buy ice for everyone. The cost per bag of cube is $1.75 and block is $2.50. Thanks
Water is going down
Tuesday June 7, 2011
Water level is going down quickly!!!!! That means that the mooring and their scopes will be getting back to a "normal" level-even thought the Lake is still at 101.6. Crazy since that has been super high in the past. What that means for your boat: If everything continues as is with no rise in the Lake level, we will start launching boats end of the week/beginning of next week. Please call or email to let me know you are ready to go in. The docks are another story as 2 days of a strong Westerly wind finally toppled the fixed walkway/hinged gangway. Estimates are coming in for replacements of both. Thank you again for your patience with this Spring. It is very odd to see no boats on the water. Yesterday I saw one sailboat-all day long.
Mast Stepping!!!!
Tuesday June 7, 2011
For people who are making their way back home after spending the winter off the Lake, we can step your masts! CSC is one of the few marinas that is capable of stepping masts currently. We have a crane with 84 feet of boom for virtually all mast heights. Give us a call or email to set up a time to get your mast stepped.
More Flooding!
Tuesday May 31, 2011
The lake goes down, the lake goes up, the lake goes down, the lake goes back up. That seems to be the story of the Spring so far. With the huge storms that rolled through here late last week the Lake has gone back up and is still rising as of today. Lake level this morning at 6AM was 102.85 and the rivers are very full again. I am going to try something different with the docks while the bank is flooded and the gangway unusable. I will post something else when that part is done. Once I am able to get some docks in the water, I will start putting boats in. Keep in mind that your moorings are set with a 3:1 scope at about 98 feet so things are pretty tight with the chains right now. Thanks for your patience. Things are going to get better down here! More to come...
FLOODING AT CSC (**updated with pictures!)
Thursday May 5, 2011
Well, last week the lake set a new record level at 102.8. It went down a bit over the weekend and now has risen to 103.3 (according to NOAA) as of 8 AM on May 5, 2011. I cannot put the docks in yet as the gangway is floating! When the level goes down so there is a dry path to the dock, I will repost. What this means for your boat: I can still launch boats, you just won't have any place to put your dingy. There is no shoreline to drag it up onto. Please be understanding with the delay as it is out of my control. If you want your boat in please call me and we can talk about it. I will be posting some updated pictures on the web page shortly so you can see what is going on here! Thanks Andy
